Manuela Corji: Vistas y placeres

El jueves 21 de septiembre 2023 la galeria Lyle O. Reiztel Arte Contemporaneo inaugura el primer solo-show de la artista de origen colombiano residente en Santo Domingo Manuela Corji,, a las 7.30-10.30 PM en la Torre Piantini.

“Vistas y Placeres” es la exhibición debut de la artista dominico-colombiana Manuela Corji. A través del óleo como medio primario y un estilo realista que integra referencia al arte erotico japonés, shunga, Corji retrata escenas propias del trópico, que exploran temas sobre el placer y la intimidad. Su delicada atención al detalle coexiste con la simplificación de los planos, cuya geometría se vuelve parte de la espacialidad del cuadro para producir paisajes interiores urbanos, y utiliza una paleta con colores vibrantes que resaltan por la suavidad de sus fondos. Sus pinturas evocan sensaciones de erotismo, relajación, contemplación y satisfacción, explorando la faceta humana que tras puertas cerradas, se vulnera hasta aproximarse a su estado más animal.

Manuela Corji (Medellín, 2000) es una artista emergente de origen colombiano y residente en Santo Domingo. Ha participado en exhibiciones colectivas tales como “Last Summer,” con la galería Lyle O. Reitzel, así como “Digo Bueno Dia Digo Buena Noche,” en conjunto a la galería y el Museo Fernando Peña Defilló. Este año 2023, ha sido seleccionada para la Bienal de Artes Visuales de Santo Domingo. A sus 16 años de edad se enrola en la Escuela Nacional de Artes Visuales (ENAV), aprobando el preparatorio y cursando un año de vida académica. Del 2018 a 2022 realiza la carrera Comunicación Publicitaria en la Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE). Desde el 2019, a la par de realizar y culminar su carrera universitaria, Manuela adopta una rutina que favorece su desarrollo artístico, dedicándose completamente a la realización de su obra personal.

The Lyle O. Reitzel Arte Contemporáneo gallery, celebrating its 28th anniversary of existence, with an independent and self-curated space, presents the newest double feature exhibition, with two simultaneous solo shows: In Room A, “Manifesto,” of the Cuban artist Gustavo Acosta, and in Room B, “Vistas y Placeres,” the solo-show debut of Colombian artist Manuela Corji now residing in Santo Domingo. to open on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 7.30-10.30 PM in the Piantini Tower.

“Vistas y Placeres” is the first solo exhibition of the Dominican-Colombian artist Manuela Corji. Using oil as her primary medium and a realistic style that integrates references to Japanese erotic art, or shunga, Corji portrays scenes from the tropics, which explore themes of pleasure and intimacy. Her delicate attention to detail coexists with the simplification of spatial dimension, making its geometry become part of the painting to produce urban interior landscapes. She uses a palette with vibrant colors that stand out for the softness of their backgrounds. Her paintings evoke sensations of eroticism, relaxation, contemplation and satisfaction, exploring the side of human behavior that, behind closed doors, approaches its most animal state.

Manuela Corji (Medellín, 2000) is an emerging artist of Colombian origin and resident in Santo Domingo. She has participated in group exhibitions such as “Last Summer,” with the Lyle O. Since 2019, while completing and completing her university degree, Manuela adopts a routine that favors her artistic development, dedicating herself completely to the creation of her personal work.

The exhibition will be open to the public from Monday to Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., until the 25th of October, 2023.
