Context NY 2016
Lyle O. Reitzel Gallery, originally from Dominican Republic and founded in Santo Domingo in 1995, launches its new branch in New York at 139 Eldridge St., located at the heart of Manhattan's Lower East Side, a few blocks away from the New Museum and home of over 200 galleries specialized in international avant-garde art. The Gallery has been selected to participate in CONTEXT New York 2016 (May 3rd-8th), that will be held in Pier 94 (12th Avenue) alongside its sister fair Art New York, during the cultural storm that Frieze New York entails. It is one of the busiest weeks for Contemporary Art in the city.
Lyle O. Reitzel NY presents a dynamic collective show that features the best of its repertoire. It includes "Cathedral" an installation by Dominican artist based in the big apple Scherezade García, as a part of the special projects for the Fair's public area. Its booth, C29, will hold a collective show of selected pieces by Dominican creators García Cordero, Gerard Ellis, and Raúl Recio, the Haitian icon Edouard Duval-Carrié, renowned Cuban artists José Bedia and Luis Cruz Azaceta, as well as Uruguayan master Ignacio Iturria and eternally fascinating Mexican painter Victor Rodríguez. CONTEXT New York is a sister fair for the successful CONTEXT Art Miami, established during Art Basel Miami Beach 2012. Lyle O. Reitzel is one of the founders of this project and has participated in all of the following editions. CONTEXT New York's inviting atmosphere creates a dialogue between collectors, participating galleries, curators and artists, furthermore building a platform where veteran collectors, as well as the less-experienced, can enjoy and acquire artworks by emerging and renowned talents, that are exhibited in more than 60 new and established galleries. LOR NY announces it is in the process of preparing its Grand Opening on June 8th, 2016, with the first ever solo show in New York by Dominican artist living in Paris and Cabarete, García Cordero: "Tales of the Caribbean Nights"
