Aventuras Desconocidas
In 2008, Lyle O. Reitzel presented for first the time Gustavo Peña’s artwork with an outstanding show titled "Urgente: arte emergente: Hulda & Gustavo” featuring the work of dominican fellow artist Hulda Guzmán. From Peña’s body of work we can perceive a deep connection between fundamental academic elements, exquisite levels of care in the production and vitality of its symbolic proposal.
"Unknown Adventures " is a body of work with more than 20 pieces between paintings, photography and drawings. All of them produced between 2010-2016. A period of six years where the artist breaks with his previous relationship with figurative painting and starts to experiment with another forms of representations as geometric abstraction presenting an unique neo-expressionist hybrid. The artist’s challenge is to be able to tell stories with one image and at the same time to invite spectators to deal with an intriguing outcome.
